How to start with Progressions software ?

  • Open Genius Maker software and click "Progressions" button. It opens the Progressions window as shown above.
  • It asks you to choose either Arithmetic progression OR Geometric progression. Select either one of them.
  • Then "what do you want to find out ?" box appears with 4 options. Select one of them.
  • The chosen progression box appears. The first row of numbers indicate the member number and the second row indicates the actual series.
  • You may note that, 3 type of colours are used for boxes. 1) Green, 2) Red and 3) Yellowish-Gray.
    • Green colour boxes are the input field.

    • Red colour box is your required output field.

    • Yellowish-Gray boxes are the neighboring reference fields.

  • Enter values in all the Green coloured boxes.
  • Click " Solve ".
  • You may see that the software solves the problem internally and then it fills all reference boxes and output box with appropriate result.
  • After solving a series successfully, you can see that a "summation box" appears at the bottom of the window. This can be used to find the sum of that series between any two members of that series.

EXAMPLE -1: (AP)

  • Let us take an example.
  • Click "Arithmetic Progression"
  • From "what do you want to find out ?" box, click " Find common difference"
  • You may see that the common difference box changes its colour to Red.
  • The first member box, nth member box and nth member number box have changed to Green.
  • Enter "2" in the first member box.
  • Enter "20" in the nth member box.
  • Enter "10" in the nth member number box.
  • Click the "Solve" button.
  • You may see that the software fills the series and also displays the value of "common difference" as " 2 ".
  • You may note the summation box at the bottom. By default, It displays the result of summation of first 10 numbers of the current series as " 110 "
  • Set the summation box to find sum from member number "2" to member number "24".
  • Click "Find sum" button.
  • It displays the sum as "598"

EXAMPLE -2: (AP)

  • Let us take another example.
  • Click "Arithmetic Progression"
  • From "what do you want to find out ?" box, click " Find member number"
  • You may see that the nth member number box changes its colour to Red.
  • The first member box, nth member box and common difference box have changed to Green.
  • Enter "2" in the first member box.
  • Enter "22" in the nth member box.
  • Enter "4" in the common difference box.
  • Click the "Solve" button.
  • You may see that the software fills the series and also displays the value of "nth member number" as " 6 ".
  • You may note the summation box at the bottom. By default, It displays the result of summation of first 10 numbers of the current series as " 200 "
  • Set the summation box to find sum from member number "21" to member number "30".
  • Click "Find sum" button.
  • It displays the sum as "1000"

EXAMPLE -3: (GP)

  • Click "Geometric Progression"
  • From "what do you want to find out ?" box, click " Find nth member"
  • You may see that the nth member box changes its colour to Red.
  • The first member box, nth member number box and common ratio box have changed to Green.
  • Enter "1" in the first member box.
  • Enter "4" in the nth member number box.
  • Enter "3" in the common ratio box.
  • Click the "Solve" button.
  • You may see that the software fills the series and also displays the value of "nth member" as " 27 ".
  • You may note the summation box at the bottom. By default, It displays the result of summation of first 10 numbers of the current series as " 29524 "
  • Set the summation box to find sum from member number "3" to member number "8".
  • Click "Find sum" button.
  • It displays the sum as "3276"

EXAMPLE -4: (GP)

  • Click "Geometric Progression"
  • From "what do you want to find out ?" box, click " Find first member"
  • You may see that the first member box changes its colour to Red.
  • The nth member box, nth member number box and common ratio box have changed to Green.
  • Enter "625" in the nth member box.
  • Enter "6" in the nth member number box.
  • Enter "5" in the common ratio box.
  • Click the "Solve" button.
  • You may see that the software fills the series and also displays the value of "first member" as " 0.2 ".
  • You may note the summation box at the bottom. By default, It displays the result of summation of first 10 numbers of the current series as " 488281.2 "
  • Set the summation box to find sum from member number "2" to member number "9".
  • Click "Find sum" button.
  • It displays the sum as "97656"
